Asistirás a un colegio público con estudiantes de tu edad, y puedes enfocarte en el área que prefieras; ciencia y tecnología, ciencias socio-económicas, ciencias sociales y humanidades, idiomas y literatura, o artes visuales. Los colegios portugueses son demandantes y tienen extensos horarios, pero son además un lugar ideal para conocer personas, hacer amigos y aprender el idioma y sobre la cultura e historia de Portugal.

Idioma

El idioma más hablado en Portugal es el portugués. Para ayudarte en tu aprendizaje, AFS te proporcionará un libro y lecciones en audios. Los colegios anfitriones usualmente dictan clases de portugués para extranjeros, tanto individuales como en grupo.

Comida

Los mariscos son muy populares en Portugal, así como otros platos que incluyen carne, pan, queso, frutas y vegetales frescos. Son muy comunes las carnes de cerdo, cordero, vacuno, pollo y conejo. También encontrarás muchas pastelerías y panaderías en las que descubrirás un sinnúmero de dulces, tortas y pasteles por descubrir.

Este programa comienza en Chile, con una orientación de pre-partida y continuará con orientaciones y otras actividades que maximizarán tu experiencia, enfrentar los desafíos que significa tu inmersión en una nueva cultura y comunidad y ganar conocimiento, habilidades, y una entendimiento global, tanto mientras estés viviendo tu experiencia como al volver. Los voluntarios AFS estarán siempre presentes para ayudarte y guiarte a ti y a tu familia anfitriona en este camino de aprendizaje en el extranjero.
